Trauma-Informed Care In Substance Abuse Services

Providers who serve individuals with substance abuse issues are likely to encounter those who have also experienced trauma in their lives. It is imperative that providers are knowledgeable of and prepared to respond to their clients who present with both substance abuse and trauma.

This introductory course relates to the clinical, assessment, supportive, and administrative needs of participants who provide care those who misuse substances, and have been exposed to trauma events.

  • Upon completion of this training:
  • Participants will define “Trauma” from a psycho-sociocultural perspective
  • Participants will name the two most influential psycho-social studies on trauma
  • Participants will identify at least 3 emotional, physical, cognitive, behavioral, and existential reactions to Trauma
  • Participants will identify at least 3 Trauma-Specific interventions

Registration/CE

The cost for this training is $15. You must REGISTER HERE. A total of 3.5 contact hours are available through the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners and National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC). Certificates will be available for all others.
