TEEN Direct
The Teens Empowered, Educated and Nurtured Direct Project (TEEN Direct) is a 4 year federally funded grant with the goals of: 1) Decreasing the incidence of new HIV and Viral Hepatitis infections and substance abuse rates among youth ages 13-17 in Montgomery, Dallas and Lowndes counties and 2) Increasing the capacity of youth serving agencies and organizations to address HIV and substance abuse through existing service delivery methods and practices in all three counties.
Mentoring Programs
The TEEN Direct Mentoring Program is one of the project’s signature programs for Montgomery youth. Sistas with Values (SWV) and Moving Mountains Mentoring Program (3MP) are two TEEN Direct Mentoring programs. Annually, 60 youth will be selected to participate in these programs. Youth who complete the 4-week program will participate in activities to develop leadership skills, increase self-esteem and build character. A certificate of completion is given at the end.
