The Council on Substance Abuse- NCADD (COSA-NCADD) will host Students With Achievement Goals (SWAG) Graduation Skate Party on Saturday April 22, 2017. This skating party will be in celebration of achievement for students currently enrolled in the program. The event will be held at Looney’s Super Skate.
The Graduation Skate Party will last from 12PM- 3PM. There will be free food, free skate rentals, games, and much more. SWAG students must bring their skate passes with signed by a facilitator to skate.
SWAG is an after-school program for 4th and 5th graders at E.D. Nixon and Floyd Elementary Schools. The program uses evidenced based curricula that teach socio-emotional skills, life skills, critical thinking, literacy, and related skills. Students in the program participate in various alternative activities such as arts and crafts, sports, community service projects, and games.
COSA-NCADD recently hosted SWAG Spring Break Camp in March. During the camp, students had the opportunity to learn how to apply critical thinking skills in interpreting media messages, particularly those related to alcohol and tobacco products.
